The Brother sewing machine I find does better with the smaller things like cloth diapers, but the Singer sewing machine is toughand I use it for clothing, quilts, layers, etc .

Get you a low cost sewing machine and sew some cloth diapers. In the long run you will be saving money. Once you start sewing cloth diapers, you will find that you will start sewing other items, too. Cloth wipes, baby clothes, quilts, and more.
